Motif Magazine's Quote on CFTC!!

"Santa Mamba rocks the
house, Latino style
Seeing Santa Mamba alone is a good
enough reason to get out of the house.
Their Latin-rock vibes breathe an air of
infectious positivity of the power of
music. Not to mention, they are a pretty
damn good band to boot that lites the
dance floor en fuego. If that wasn’t
enough though, Santa Mamba is going to
be rocking out for a cure for breast cancer
on Oct 3. Proceeds for this event will go
to the 15th Anniversary of American
Cancer Society’s Making Strides for
Breast Cancer walk to be held on Oct 24.
Chris Fascione, percussionist for Santa
Mamba, has walked in this event for all
15 years in honor of his wife who passed
of this disease. Chris thought he would
like to do something for his friends and
fans besides ask for a donation, thus the
celebration was planned. The Latin rock
kings also play Save the Bay’s annual
fund-raising bash at the Squantum Club
in E.P. Oct 1st.
A concert For The Cure featuring
Santa Mamba will take place at The Hi
Hat in Providence on Oct 3."

Thanks Alicia!!

Look at Alicia modeling the new merchandise. This is a special hoodie that the Santa Mamba merchandise queen made for our designer Alicia. So we wondering..."should we do a hoodie for CFTC?" Maybe we'll do something in a long sleeve t shirt. Either way, it looks good our on graphic queen.

So, the merchandise is going -we are selling it almost out, so if you want some, I cannot guarantee that it will make it to the show, so please contact us to order it now!!!

MERCHANDISE IS IN!!

Our merchandise has finally all arrived!!! The T-shirts and hats arrived late last night - Thanks Alicia for all the design work you did and Lotte (Santa Mamba wife) for all the hard work and effort. The shirts are great - crisp, clean and very well done. Vneck in short sleeve grey or 3/4 sleeve white. The hats are all grey. We are ready to go.

I got to model the shirt and hat - hopefully 10-3-10 won't be 95 degrees out and I won't have a shiny face. But I will have my dancing shoes on that day - that's for sure!! So we have everything now - special pink rubber bracelets, ID badges for the volunteers, merchandise to sell.

Looking for raffle items - if anyone has anything they'd like to offer, it would be appreciated. Please contact us at santamamba@cox.net. Tickets are also on sale, so DON'T WAIT!!!

Can't wait to see everyone there!!

The Concert for The Cure

A few words about Concert for the Cure, including details of the event. Our logo is Santa Mamba's logo superimposed over a pink ribbon. Santa Mamba is a latin roots rock band from Providence that is getting quite a lot of notoriety during 2010. The music is infectious and you can't help but want to move and dance. A Providence newpaper called it "ass-shaking latin rock" this summer. We thought doing a fund raiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer with the band would be fun and different. The band offered to play the show for no cost, and the HiHat at Davol Square in Providence is offering their venue for the cause.

The event is Sunday afternoon, October 3, 2010, at the HiHat at 3 Davol Square in Providence - plenty of parking. Doors open at 3 and the band will go on sometime around 4 or 4:30. We will have some raffles, special merchandise, time to meet and greet the band and just to be together for a great cause. We are trying to encourage ticket sales ahead of time, so tickets are $20 ahead of time, and $25 at the door. You can mail a check made out to Peltione Group to 451 Williams Crossing, Coventry, RI 02816. You can also pay online at Chris's Making Strides for Breast Cancer. The link for that is below. If you do pay online, do let Chris or I know that the donation is for tickets for CFTC. You can email us at santamamba@cox.net.

So put on your dancing shoes and come out for an afternoon that guarantees fun. We look forward to seeing you there.

Facts

This year alone, 11,740 woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer just in New England. That's a lot of women. Fortunately, with the help of events like Making Strides for Breast Cancer, diagnoses and treatment is more effective and woman are living more normal lives while they fight this disease and after they are well.

Since 1993, the first year of the event in this country, 6 million walkers have raised over $400,000,000!!! In 2009 alone, 700,000 walkers raised over $60 million dollars. It's amazing what can be done by small donations. All it takes is a few dollars from a lot of people to add up to great numbers.

The photo above is from April 2010. The American Cancer Society had a party at Swarovski Crystal thanking the local Pacesetters for their efforts. You can see Chris and his fellow female Pacesetters.

Tickets for our event: cftc2010@gmail.com, santamamba@cox.net or call us 401.440.8815. Below is the link to our Making Strides page.

MAKING STRIDES FOR BREAST CANCER BREAKFAST

This past week we attended the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Breakfast. It's the official kick off to the Making Strides Walk to be held in October. This year was a special year as they were celebrating their 15th Anniversary. Or Birthday as the American Cancer Society likes to promote. They believe that their work promotes more birthdays.

It was made even more special to us because they profiled Chris Fascione at the event. Chris and Alicia have walked all 15 years in honor and memory of Nancy. They showed a video of Chris talking about his reasons for walking, why his commitment is still strong and his hope for the future. They also included some photos of Nancy and Alicia and of Chris and Alicia at the walks throughout the years. I know that there wasn't a dry eye at our table. My friend Nancy Frank was there as well and she posted on my facebook that evening that she had no idea of his story and she admitted to being rather tearful. That sentiment is common at these events. We decided to surprise Alicia with it - she didn't know that her Dad was being profiled and she was very moved by all of it.

So now we are officially underway with raising money for our Concert which we will turn in at the Making Strides walk on October 24th. Our merchandise has been ordered, the band is rehearsing their new song and so the focus is ticket sales.

Alicia, Chris and Karen Adams after the event

I wanted to give a special shout out to my long time friend Nancy Frank. I've known her since high school and saw her at the breakfast. She told me after that it was her first event and this is her first walk, but she knew it wouldn't be her last. Nancy - welcome to the Making Strides family. It will enrich your life more than you know. See you at CFTC and the walk!!
