MAKING STRIDES FOR BREAST CANCER BREAKFAST

This past week we attended the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Breakfast. It's the official kick off to the Making Strides Walk to be held in October. This year was a special year as they were celebrating their 15th Anniversary. Or Birthday as the American Cancer Society likes to promote. They believe that their work promotes more birthdays.

It was made even more special to us because they profiled Chris Fascione at the event. Chris and Alicia have walked all 15 years in honor and memory of Nancy. They showed a video of Chris talking about his reasons for walking, why his commitment is still strong and his hope for the future. They also included some photos of Nancy and Alicia and of Chris and Alicia at the walks throughout the years. I know that there wasn't a dry eye at our table. My friend Nancy Frank was there as well and she posted on my facebook that evening that she had no idea of his story and she admitted to being rather tearful. That sentiment is common at these events. We decided to surprise Alicia with it - she didn't know that her Dad was being profiled and she was very moved by all of it.

So now we are officially underway with raising money for our Concert which we will turn in at the Making Strides walk on October 24th. Our merchandise has been ordered, the band is rehearsing their new song and so the focus is ticket sales.

I wanted to give a special shout out to my long time friend Nancy Frank. I've known her since high school and saw her at the breakfast. She told me after that it was her first event and this is her first walk, but she knew it wouldn't be her last. Nancy - welcome to the Making Strides family. It will enrich your life more than you know. See you at CFTC and the walk!!
