Background Information

"What's this all about?" you ask? Perhaps a little background is called for. Chris Fascione, percussionist for Santa Mamba, lost his wife to Breast Cancer in 1994 when she was just 41 years old and their daughter Alicia was 13. The year before Nancy Fascione died they all walked at a small Breast Cancer walk at India Pt Park and raised $45. The following year, Nancy died in the summer, but Chris and Alicia have kept her memory alive by honoring her every year since then by walking in October. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is celebrating their 15th year, so as you can see, Chris, Nancy and Alicia started even prior to this event. Chris and Alicia are one of the few participants who have walked every year it has been in existence. They've seen it grow from a few hundred participants to thousands. For all their dedication and contribution, Chris has been named a "Pacesetter" by the ACS as the team leader for The Fascione Group.

This spring, Chris thought that having his band, Santa Mamba, perform at a concert during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, would be a great way to raise money for Making Strides for Breast Cancer. The band didn't hesitate to donate their afternoon to this worthy cause and we hope that you, our friends and fans also will want to help support our efforts, and join us for a fun party.
